With the solids mesher add-on to FEMdesigner you can import an IGES or STL file from any solid modeler or CAD software. The inbuilt "healing" technology automatically repairs drawing errors, based on your import tolerance. You can also make the mesh finer in complex areas by adding a local mesh size. The mesher has been rigorously tested with IGES files from AutoCAD, Solidworks, Proengineer, Catia, and many others.
The Stressout plug-in for ThinkDesign uses the same technology, including automatic "healing" and local mesh size. Mostly all you need do is select the mesh icon on the toolbar and select a suitable global mesh size and merge tolerance.
