Many engineering parts are still quite simple to model without using a solid modeler. Symmetry can be simulated by ‘restraints’ and ‘constraints’ which allow the model to be smaller and faster. Axisymmetric components can be modelled as a cross-section. Variables can be used for the model dimensions.
